It’s a new era for our government. Tomorrow Liz Truss will become our third female Prime Minister, and the first from a seat in Norfolk since Robert Walpole.
Liz said on winning that “I will deliver a bold plan to cut taxes and grow our economy. I will deliver on the energy crisis, dealing with people’s energy bills, but also dealing with the long-term issues we have on energy supply. And I will deliver on the National Health Service.”
She has much to do but I hope this autumn will show what her new cabinet can achieve for us. One aspect of her campaign that is key for the City was her focus on regulation to drive growth.
She promised to “empower the City to drive economic growth” through tax cuts and regulatory reform saying she wanted to maintain the Square Mile’s competitive edge and “supercharge growth and investment” here.
I hope she is successful as a prosperous City is good for the whole UK.
