Epping Forest, London's largest open space, is a registered charity managed by the City of London at little cost to the public.
I was delighted to talk to its local MP Eleanor Laing about the importance of the Forest, and our role in preserving it.
We host all sorts of events throughout the year and there are plenty of activities to get involved in: whether it's walking and running, cycling, horse riding, angling, football or golf.
Whether you wish to escape the urban sprawl and unwind, or want something a little more active, Epping Forest has something for you.
There are also four visitor centres to see, with exhibitions, special events and friendly staff to help you find your way around the Forest.
Epping Forest opening hours
Epping Forest is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; though our visitor centres do close. Wanstead Park also closes at dusk and reopens at dawn, as do some of our car parks.
