Public service has moments of fascination and privilege, and I certainly feel that way tonight after we concluded the State Banquet for the Republic of Korea, which I was very happy to chair. It was my great hope that this week’s visit would promote co-operation and recognition of the technological contributions of Korea and the close connections to the UK. We delivered this and more because the UK and Korea unveiled:
Landmark commitments on AI, semiconductors, space and a new UK-Republic of Korea Accord on
global science and tech to work even more closely together, as the two countries prepare to co-host the next AI Safety Summit.
The UK-Republic of Korea sci-tech links will also be celebrated at the Royal Society in London, and new funding was announced to boost research links between the two countries. A fabulous event, thank you to all who attended!
