London is the world’s leading centre for legal advice. The City of London is committed to maintaining that excellence, through investment in our courts and now in technology.
I’m pleased to announce the City of London Corporation has launched a LawTech Sounding Board to gather views on how to increase adoption of legal technology in the financial and professional services sector.
The inaugural meeting of the group was held today (3 June) and will featured speeches from the City Corporation Policy Chair Catherine McGuinness alongside the Lord Chancellor & Secretary of State for Justice David Gauke MP.
The Law Society, LegalGeek and Barclays Eagle Labs will also attend. The creation of the Sounding Board comes in the wake of a report by the Law Society, which showed that adoption of technology remains limited across the legal sector.
It will aim to provide a forum for exploring what practical action can be taken by the legal and tech communities to ensure the UK retains its competitive advantage as a legal technology hub.The group will operate alongside existing initiatives including the LawTech Delivery Panel, a joint initiative between government, judiciary, industry and academia to promote the use of technology in the UK’s legal sector.
