Trade minister Liam Fox gave an important speech today, and confirmed the UK will have a set of free trade deals ready and waiting the minute a Brexit transition period ends, insisting businesses have nothing to fear from the UK's departure from the European Union.
He told the audience that agreements ip with those who have EU trade agreements would immediately be copied, and come into force a minute after midnight when the UK leaves the EU. He will also have draft agreements in place with a number of other countries, and that his department was prioritising deals with the US, Australia and New Zealand.
His upbeat and positive message was well received, and it was very encouraging news. I was delighted to talk to him about the concerns I find amongst non UK businesses, and the need to show the UK remains the place to come.
