Tonight as part of the police committee I was honoured to attend a special evening in honour of all the police forces and law enforcement agencies. We were treated to an inspiring speech by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cassandra Dick. She mixed her own career recollections from being too short to join the force, to her current role leading our countries largest force, with an insightful view of co-operation between forces and agencies in the fight against terrorism. Her praise for the City of London Police was most kind and welcome. Her insights on how London compares to other world cities was also interesting, and her desire to be the safetest City in Europe is of course to be welcomed. It was an excellent evening with representatives from the NY police as well as six English forces and the armed forces.
