The Museum of London is planning a£70 million move from the Barbican to Smithfield to create a new and expanded exhibition space. The intent is put thousands of unseen atifacts on show for the first time.
It is hoped that visitors will no longer struggle to find the museum in the Barbican. It also presents a wonderful opportunity to bring back the derelict part of Smithfield to life.
No longer will our museum be housed in brick roundabout! The museum, which has been housed at the Barbican for almost 40 years, hopes to move to the empty General Market building in Smithfield by 2021.
