It was very encouraging to hear Conor Burns MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy sharing his belief the UK will join CPTPP in the coming year, and his recognition that services and intellectual property are key parts for the UK to get right in Free Trade Agreements. His focus on where trade opportunity lies and the size of those opportunities rather than merely looking at which countries we could have deals with showed a commendable focus on what matters. He also spoke about the importance of helping British business export, because the deals are only part of the picture, and we need to see more UK companies exporting.
