Since 1748 there has been an annual Trooping of the Colours event to mark the sovereign’s birthday. This year the 2nd Battalion Irish Guards are the regiment trooping their colours. Originally formed in 1915 during World War 1 at Warley near Brentwood in Essex. It’s a great spectacle and reminder of the history and dedication of our service personnel. Watching it just days after the 80th Anniversary of D Day is very poignant. We who enjoy peace and stability only enjoy our freedom because of the willingness of others to serve. I hope we all keep that in mind as we lead our lives.
