I was pleased to hear from both the City of London Policy Chairman, and the City’s MP Rachel Blake, at a parliamentary reception hosted by the Lord Mountevans. With a relatively new Government and a budget coming soon, it was a welcome opportunity to talk about what really drives growth, and remind everyone that professional and tertiary services are a huge part of our economy. Indeed the revenue from the City of London exceeds the costs of the UK education budget, and reminding all of the link between vital investment and professional services is always sensible.
The Government has a big role to play in investment and how business approaches the adoption of new technology.
Last month the government classified data centres as 'critical national infrastructure' putting them on a par with power stations and railways but we need a strategy to meet the growing demand.
We need more frank dialogue on where to find the wins between Government Regulation, Finance and Technology adoption. Thank you to all who took part, especially the many MPs that attended.
