It was a great honour to join the civic party honouring Gordon Campbell for his service as Canada's High Commissioner to the United Kingon. I first met Gordon in 2011 when he took up post and he was a great supporter of Anglo-Canadian business. At that time I worked for a Canadian law firm, and he was tremendously supportive of our work to invest in England. He also kindly hosted Canadian Justice Rothstein for me at the High Commission, as part of a special Canadian - UK legal moot for the patent bar at UCL, and took part in an event on the Canadian free trade agreement with the EU on his birthday, a great committment to Anglo- Canadian relations!
Gordon Muir Campbell, has had a remarkable career in public service; he was the 35th Mayor of Vancouver from 1986 to 1993 and the 34th Premier of British Columbia from 2001 to 2011. He was the leader of the British Columbia Liberal Party, which was re-elected for a third term on May 12, 2009, before taking up his post in London. We shall miss him greatly and I personally thank him for his friendship.
