The City of London Corporation, Tower Hamlets Council, Southwark Council and Transport for London (TfL) are working together to ensure that London vehicles and pedestrians keep moving. Work is on schedule to be completed on time, the closure will be lifted on 31 December 2016.
A full closure of bridge to pedestrians will be carried out today.
Work undertaken this week:
- Waterproofing and resurfacing work on the approach carriageways were completed.
- Laying of new footway decking panels towards the western footpath of bascules continued.
- Installation of new expansion joints began.
- Mastic asphalt to west footpaths around towers was completed.
- Window cleaning of towers was carried
- Reinstatement of the western footway to approach viaducts will begin.
- Mastic asphalt surfacing will be carried out on the western footpath to fixed spans.
- Installation of new expansion joints will continue.
- Laying of new footway decking panels to the western footpath of bascules will continue.
Resurfacing and jointing works to bascule carriageway will commence next. Works are on schedule to end later this month.
