The City has embarked on its first survey and review of transport in some time.
The Strategy will set out how, over the next 25 years, the City Corporation will manage transport and our streets to ensure the Square Mile remains a great place to live, work, visit and invest. It will be published in spring 2019.
This engagement phase aims to understand what residents, workers and businesses think about transport and streets in the City. Engagement activities between now and Easter will include:
- An online survey aimed at residents and workers. The survey will remain open until Tuesday 3 April; https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CityStreets
- An exhibition at The City Centre exploring the past, present and future of transport and streets in the City; http://www.thecitycentre.london/exhibitions-events
- Drop-in sessions at locations across the City. See our website for details; www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/transportstrategy
- Workshops with key stakeholders such as developers, major occupiers, transport user groups and operators, and Boroughs neighbouring the City.
I do hope you will complete it as it is a real chance to examined people’s views on whether we have the right balance between pedestrians, public and private transport.
Bus news
The RV1 bus service running between Covent Garden and Tower Gateway. From Saturday February 10th the frequency of the service will be reduced from six buses an hour to three buses an hour. The route is currently diverted away from Tooley Street because of construction at London Bridge Station.
TfL are making this change because demand for the RV1 has fallen significantly over the last 12 months. There are currently three services which run parallel to the RV1 and a number of other alternatives. The 381 bus runs parallel between Waterloo and City Hall and the 78 and 42 run parallel between City Hall and Tower Gateway. In addition there are a number of bus services between Waterloo and Aldwych and the Jubilee line provides another option between Waterloo and London Bridge.
Further information will be included on the TfL website listing permanent bus changes: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/permanent-bus-changes?cid=permbuschanges
