Today the Dept. for International Trade held their second advisory group meeting demonstrating commitment to a focus on intellectual property in the UK’s future trade agreements. The group will identify priorities for trade negotiations and help the department plan for the post brexit future. We also discussed the consultations under way in support of the UK’s intention to seek free trade agreements with the US, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the UK potentially seeking accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). It’s great news for businesses that value intellectual property to see the Government being this pro active.
