Tonight chief secretary to the treasury John Glen MP, met with London leaders to discuss how to keep Britain engaged with Europe and London as its financial and economic capital. He balanced a view of alignment and engagement with the EU alongside the opportunity of no longer being subject to its institutions. It was an effective message. What was more impressive was my direct discussion with London councils and leaders about their optimism for our city. Barking and Dagenham for example has ambitions for build 40,000 homes, a film centre to rival pinewood, and to embrace the China to London train opportunities that are emerging...it showed whatever your ambition London has a place to build it....
