Today I was lucky to take part in a discussion on keeping London and our finance markets competitive. This was part of a wider conversation about the UK economy, and I want to thank Bloomberg for a stimulating morning discussing regulatory reform with the City Minister. A lot of ground was covered, for me the most interesting parts were risk appetite and data reform, but the big announcement was probably the government's ambition to orchestrate a "renaissance" of London's capital markets via proposals for a new platform that will allow investors in private companies to trade shares. Sessions on innovation and growth are so important to the whole economy, I hope there will be more soon.
