Donald Rumsfeld famously said “We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.”
Tonight I heard this channelled in an unusual but insightful direction by Tim Rawlins of NCC Group (the commercial successor to the UK National Computing Centre) and an expert is cyber security.
He gave a number of useful tips to organisations, my top 3 take aways were: (1) Consider and know your physical assets, understand where your network can be accessed, (2) Think about the security of your Back Ups, are they safe from access, and (3) Train and practice with your crisis responders, know who is on your stakeholder list - who must you call in the middle of the night and who can wait until the next day?
A great evening discussing what happens in the real world when tech falls over!
