Trinity House is a wonderful building in Tower Ward and I was deeply honoured today to have a small role supporting the Master of Trintiy House, who happens to be HRH the Princess Royal, and who has such an inspiring dedication to so many charities and good works across the UK. Today was about our maritime industry, the safety of shipping and the well being of seafarers - this having been the prime concern ever since Trinity House was given a Royal Charter by Henry VIII in 1514.
Trinity House is a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, providing education, support and welfare to the seafaring community with a statutory duty as a General Lighthouse Authority to deliver a reliable, efficient and cost-effective aids to navigation service for the benefit and safety of all mariners. It’s one of those hidden gems of the UK where people had the foresight to create this wonderful charity that does much for so many, instead of the state being responsible.
